  • Play ping pong. Everyone has played this game at least once in their life. Maybe it was at a house party back in high school or at summer camp. Capitalize on the competitive nature of this activity and bet your date that the winner pays for drinks or dessert afterwards.

  • Play pool. Not into the club scene? Find a dive and play your date at a few games of billiards. Keep it competitive or let your date win a few times. Even if you don’t drink or are terrible at eight ball, a pub off the beaten path can be a fun place to hang out and shoot the breeze.

  • Go to an amusement park. Spend the day screaming in a mixture of excitement, fear and anticipation by taking a ride on every roller coaster in the park. Win a few carnival games, take in the singing and dancing and order a corn dog or two. Park admission can be pricey, so check the Web site for offers.

  • Go horseback riding. Search the Internet or look in the phone book for a nearby stable and call to see if they offer lessons or simple outings. If one of you is an experienced equestrian, you’ll be able to impress the other with your skills. If you’re not, you’ll still have an enjoyable day with the horses.
