Cheap Date Ideas
FreshMalt understands that sometimes you just need to save some money and that’s why we give you a multitude of cheap date ideas for any occasion. Whether you are single, a student or a couple in a serious relationship, there’s plenty for you to do without making too much of a dent in your wallet.
Check out a few cheap date ideas we’ve listed below; however, if you want to plan your night out, search or browse the site and make your own itinerary. Spending a ton of money doesn’t always guarantee that the date will go well…it’s really the planning that determines success.
Currently, we only provide FreshMalt in New York City. If you happen to live in another part of the world, inform us where you live so we can determine where to expand.
- Have cupcakes. Cupcakeries are now everywhere, and if you only buy one, you can’t be tempted to eat a bigger piece. Choose your cake flavor, your frosting color or flavor and your toppings. If it’s a birthday or anniversary, add a number and/or name to the top and take a quick snapshot before digging in.
- Go to an arcade. Particularly if you aren’t an outdoorsy or athletic couple, arcades can produce the fun-yet-competitive spirit that can be so beneficial for relationships. Challenge each other or take turns, but don’t lose track of your quarter spending.
- Go to a bingo night. Catholic churches and retirement homes everywhere hold weekly bingo games as fundraisers, and they often include cash prizes for the winners. The stakes are a little less risky than casinos, but some of those bingo enthusiasts are serious, so watch out for sharks.
- Visit movie filming locations. Dozens of movies and television shows are filmed every year in New York City, and it’s not difficult to find locations from your favorite movies. Visit the firehouse from Ghostbusters, the park from You’ve Got Mail, or the apartments from Sex and the City.
- Play skeet ball. Everyone has played this game of skill hoping to win the big prizes. We all remember throwing the ball down the lane hoping it didn’t go into the first hole but hopefully into the last one for the bigger score. Grab some drinks, get those competitive juices going, and see whether you or your date still has the right moves.
- Go swimming. Find a local public pool or YMCA location and float around for a couple of hours. If you live near a beach, swim in the ocean. Water sports are notorious for working up your appetite, so plan to head to dinner when you’re pruny and water-logged.
